Environmental Art Projects in Devon

These projects are examples of how an artist's eye and traditional stonework can create an excellent focal point for an open air setting in visual terms but also in how the space becomes used.

Seven Cycle Labrynth

You can order a maze. This symbol has long been used emblematically in the landscape. Many of the early turf mazes are still distinct today in Britain even though some were constructed before the Elizabethan period. This example project used traditional cobbling techniques. The same design could be used as an earthwork and would make an excellent addition to any place where children play.

Amphitheatre

You can commission an amphitheatre. An amphitheatre is an excellent vehicle for external events, such as a performance or a meeting, or just a beautiful place to sit outside. An amphitheatre has a presence and seclusion to it, it will enhance your environment and create a space that everyone can feel proud of, encouraging social interaction and team spirit - especially amongst those who took part in its creation. The original amphitheatres were built that way to create greater amplification to the voices on stage, so in a school setting the structure aids its function. The stage area of the amphitheatre pictured here is 6m in diameter and the tiered seating can hold approximately 150 people.
